Fund Raising and Activities
Scope Members claim that they put the FUN into FUNdraising.
Over 39 years we have raised many thousands of dollars for local organizations, through our annual Cent Sale (an afternoon with more than 100 prizes raffled and usually a jumble stall at a local market to sell our personal clutter and a Bunnings BBQ
Charities we support
The last 12 months we have supported the State Emergency Service with a Rescue Dummy to be used for training purposes; Cairns Hospital Foundation with a Therapeutic Robot Baby Seal to help patients in the dementia ward; Ruth’s Women’s Shelter with the building of a gazebo for their BBQ; a Bennett Soft Rescue Board to the Cairns Surf Lifesaving Club and food vouchers to YAPS and Anglicare.
Activities
We have interesting guest speakers and recently visited the Cairns City Art Gallery, Cairns RSL Museum, and had guest speakers regarding our personal financial affairs, and volunteering programmes at Cairns Botanic Gardens. We often enjoy lunch locally after or before our meetings Cairns hosted the 39th National Conference in 2016
