The Scope Club of Ballina raised in excess of $5000 to present to Barbara Swain, the Coordinator of the Northern NSW Mental Health Support Group (MHSG)
MHCG has been supporting people in the Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore and Tweed Hospitals for many years, They provide toiletries, quilts and other essential items, to people who have mental illness and are recovering in hospital.
Ballina Shire Council awarded their ‘Australian of the Year’ title to Barbara for 2021 and this has brought the spotlight to her work with a team of people covering all mental health facilities and people with mental illness living in the community. Barbara and her team work closely with the mental health team at the hospitals to determine what people need and how they can help.
